Let’s talk about this bright, cheery look I’ve got going on in my entryway! I don’t have a grand entryway. But just because you live in a small space doesn’t mean you can’t make it look grand! This is right at my front door. I actually have my desk to the right of the door so this chair pulls double duty. It’s a cute entryway look and I just slide it over whenever I need to use it at my desk. Whenever you live in a smaller space you have to think about unconventional ways to use furniture pieces to help save space. For the longest time, having this chair sticking out from the desk just didn’t make sense in this space. It was just hard to maneuver around. Then one day it just hit me. This chair is easy to move back and forth, so put it somewhere that it looks good and pull it over to your desk when you need to! Well duh, haha! Not sure why it took me so long to figure that out.
Ok, so now let’s talk about my fave thing…decorating for cheap, haha! This chair was a thrift store find. I can’t remember for sure but I think under $15. I just recently came across these two vintage heart pillows. One was $2 and the other .50 cents. The Battenberg lace one reminds me of some my grandmother had and the eyelet one reminds me of some my mother had! But I love how current they can look mixed with the right decor! The floral pillow is just a pillow cover I ordered from Amazon. Pillow covers are an excellent option for people with limited storage space.
Now the tobacco basket was from Hobby Lobby, on sale of course, and sometimes it’s good to buy new pieces. But make sure they aren’t too trendy so that you can get your money’s worth out of them. This tobacco basket can be out year round and go with any season. I added this cute wreath that I found at Goodwill for $1.91 to give it a Valentines look! I know people love to look for vintage items when out thrifting, but you can save a lot of money by buying current pieces also. If it catches your eye then give it a second thought, think how you could use it in your house and if it’s a good deal compared to the store price. Usually I know if I really want something by leaving it on the shelf while I shop. If I keep thinking about it and worry someone else is going to pick it up then I know I really like it, haha!
Anyway, I hope that I can encourage others who also live in smaller spaces and have smaller budgets. If I did then be sure to come back for more tips and ideas! And look for me on Instagram @turquoiseturtledesigns and Facebook @The Turquoise Turtle for more inspiring photos!
